Notes from the Founder
"It's like English Breakfast, but better", the stock answer I give when people ask about Tielka Breakfast, which people accept happily, take Tielka Breakfast and then invariably contact me to rave about it later. Of course this almost ended up being a little awkward last time we visited our lovely English friends and I bought a pouch of Tielka Breakfast (instead of the perpetual bottle 'o wine)... "guys, it's like English Breakfast but bett..." (pause), ok, maybe I need a better description.
Actually I didn't know people could get so enthusiastic about a black tea, but this one smashes the boring black out of the ball park every time. The first time I gave this to my mum, there was a sudden look of surprise and then recognition on her face. She had been zapped back to a memory of afternoon tea at her auntie's house as a little girl... apparently they served good tea back then too. Mum's supply often needs a top up.
Recently, a cute cafe in Theodore, QLD opened and started using our teas. A few days later, I got a message on my voicemail from the cafe owner to say that some English tourists had stopped in and ordered a pot of Tielka Breakfast. He was so pleased to tell me they said it was the best black tea they had ever tasted. And our English friends here in Agnes Water say the same thing. I reckon we might be onto something here!
Happy brewing!
