The Happiness We Almost Lost
Have you ever heard of theanine?
If you haven't heard of theanine, you've definitely heard of caffeine. You know what I'm talking about... your friend, your worst enemy, both. That pesky but well-loved stimulant that seems to keep the world turning.
And theanine? It's the best thing that ever happened to caffeine.
Caffeine may wake you up, but you know the side effects. The jitters, the headaches, uppity blood pressure, the anxiety, you name it.
Theanine, on the other hand, is the unsung hero, the wind beneath caffeine's wings. Theanine is a dark horse, the unnoticed, underpaid, overworked secretary behind the scenes making that moody, demanding CEO, aka "coffee", shine for all the world to see.
Theanine is an amino acid that works humbly with caffeine, allowing caffeine to work its brain-boosting magic without inducing anxiety or blood pressure spikes. Incredibly, performance speed and accuracy increase and susceptibility to distraction decreases in this magical partnership. How? Theanine increases dopamine levels in the brain. This also makes you feel happy.
But beware. You will find no theanine in coffee.
You will find theanine in tea.
Particularly, in green tea.
Even more so in white tea.
Which is why today we are SO excited to make an announcement. 2020 is bringing you something good.
In the struggle of COVID-19, not all tea harvesters made it to the fields. We received word that white tea would be a casualty. So we were delighted and relieved to hear that Tielka's own 2020 Moonlight white tea was still harvested.
It arrived in the Tielka warehouse just this week. Now we are ecstatic to share this with you today.
2020 Harvest Moonlight White Tea
Rare, exotic, floral, light, nutty.
There are only two teas that have been with Tielka since the very beginning. Moonlight White Tea is one of them.
In 2009, we blind tested a bunch of teas on a group of friends. We didn't tell them what they were drinking. The response? "Is that really tea?", they were shocked. Moonlight scored head and shoulders above the rest. It even beat Tielka's best selling Tielka Breakfast black tea (which, incidentally, was the other tea that has been with Tielka since the very beginning).
Tielka's Moonlight White Tea is the perfect balance of broken leaves and whole buds. The buds are the prized part of the plant. They hold the most nutrients, those delicate, coveted sweet flavour notes. You can tell the buds from the leaves - they are long, skinny, beige-grey in colour and have a downy fur-like covering.
Don't miss out, we have just a small amount on hand from this harvest.
